The Trade Capital of Tamil Nadu

Places to Visit in Coimbatore

1. Indira Gandhi National Park

Formerly known as Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary, Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary is located at a distance of 37 kilometers from Pollachi town. The park is separated from the Nilgiri hills by the Palghat Gap on the north, Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary to the west, and to the Eravikulam National Park and Chinnar WLS to the south. The sanctuary is the thrilling wildlife place for all the global trotters. 

2. Anubhavi Subramaniar Temple

One of the most famous temples situated a few kilometers away in the Coimbatore City; Anubhavi Subramaniar Temple has a natural outflow, which emits water all through the year. This is the major reason behind the popularity of this temple.

3. Monkey Falls

Located around 27 kilometers away from Pollachi, en-route to Valparai, Monkey Falls originates from the Valparai hill ranges. It proves an excellent place with astounding natural flora and fauna all around. This Monkey Falls attracts many visitors who throng this place during weekends and public holidays.

4. Singanallur Lake

Located in Singanallur, Coimbatore, Singanallur Lake is a place where people from time to time express their anguish over the fate of Singanallur Lake. The lake is located near Coimbatore and is good for bird watching in winters. Over 100 species of birds are spotted here.

5. Siruvani Waterfalls

Located 35 kilometers west of Coimbatore City in the Western Ghats, Siruvani Waterfalls and the dam offer a sight that will remain etched in the minds of all those who visit the site. Here you can reach the site by travelling around 1 hour from Palakkad town, which is just 46 kilometers away. A drive through the paddy fields, which are golden-colored like, is highly entertaining. 

6. Ayyappan Temple

Located in Sree Ayyappan Road, Sidhapudur of Coimbatore, The Ayyappan Temple was constructed in the year 1976. The temple was built by a trust named Sri Dharma Sastha Baktha Jana Sabha.  The structure and design of this temple is quite akin to the Ayyappan Temple in Sabarimala. All the Poojas and other spiritual practices were properly followed as done in Sabarimala.

7. Marudhamalai Murugan Temple

 Built around 1200 years ago, on a picturesque hill, Marudhamalai Murugan Temple is a huge temple complex which you should definitely not miss.

8. G.D. Naidu Museum

Open from 8.00 AM to 4.30 PM, except on Sundays, G.D. Naidu Museum features an interesting collection of inventions by G.D. Naidu, also known as Edison of India. Tourists can also see the history of industrialization in Coimbatore. There is a German Gift Shop which is attached to the museum where one can buy interesting toys from Germany.
