Overview
The Bandipur Tiger Reserve situated in Mysore District of Karnataka was among the first nine Tiger Reserves established in India, at the launch of Project Tiger in 1973. This tiger reserve is contiguous to Madhumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu to the south and Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala to the south-west. To its north-west lies the Nagarhole National Park. The Bush Betta Bandipur is a deluxe wildlife resort and offers luxurious accommodation.

Regular buses and taxis are easily available from all the neighboring large towns, mainly Mysore. A 2 - 3 hour journey by road from Mysore will take you to Bandipur depending on the mode of transportation you choose. And Mysore is well connected to the rest of the country by surface and air transport.
