Summer Festival is an annual festival which is held every year in the popular hill town of Ooty, officially known as Udhagamandalam. Organized by the department of tourism, Government of Tamil Nadu and Ministry of Tourism, Government of India- the festival is held in the second and third week of May. This festival organized in the Queen of Hills attracts a heavy footfall. During the festival, a plethora of festivals, competitions and cultural programs are held. It is actually the best time to visit this hill station.

At the time of the Ooty Summer Festival, the Botanical Garden, a popular tourist attraction, plays host to the Flower show. The Fruit Show is annually held at the Sim’s Park (Coonoor). Vegetable shows as well as Fashion Parade are major crowd pullers. Along with this, traditional classical events are another major attraction at the time of the Summer Festival of Ooty. If you are one of those who love adventure then there is also an arrangement for boat racing and trekking program.

Other remarkable events which are held at the time of the festival are hot air balloon show, an amateur photo competition, include a dog show,  a painting exhibition, a tour of heritage buildings, a vintage car rally, a marathon race, spice show and a market show. Summer Festival is the time when the quaint hill town of Ooty becomes vibrant and lively.
